My name is Shi Yong and I have passion in computers since young. It made such a big impact on my I became a full stack developer prior to my NS.
2013 - 2016, Why I love computers
Realising that I am streamed to normal technical, I went on to pursue my interest in computer for the sheer pleasure of it. During that time, I learnt to code, such as HTML, CSS for web development, and arduino for robotics. Picked up other technical skills such as photography, sound systems, 3D animation and learnt how to repair fridge and air conditioners. During which, I got my first taste in victory, where I won my first judges award in Sec 1.
2017 - 2018, How I found my passion
Upon gradutating my secondary school. I reflected upon what I have learnt, and where my passions are, I realised that programming is somehting that I want to specialise in amongst the rest of the things I have picked up along the way. This is when I got myself into the NITEC course of Social Media and Web Development. During which I learnt how to build a website, design marketing materials, and pick up some tips and tricks in videography and went on to enter into Nation DataViz competition hosted by GovTech, which taught me valuable skills such as animation and putting a point across to audience in a clear and simple manner.
2019 - 2022, Giving back to community
After finishing 2 years of NITEC, I decided to pursue cybersecurity in Singapore Polytechnic. During which I have learnt how to do malware reverse engineering, cyber forensics, ethical hacking and defense, managing of windows servers and domain controller amongst other skills. Which gave me an idea on how cybersecurity and system administration works. During this time, I have also volunteered in the community during my free time as I wish to give back to community by organising the first online class during COVID-19 pandemic on HTML and CSS through the RC amongst many other events.
2022
I became a full stack developer at and edutech start up where I put my skills to good use and developed web based content and enhance features on the learning management system to benifit both the stakeholders and management, as well as the students using the platform. One of the more notable examples are the games, which you can find in the projects section.
2024, Continous pursuit of my dreams and believes
I am currently pursuing my undergraduate studies in Singapore Insitute of Technology where I aim to further my skills and gain a deeper understanding of computers. With my prior experince as a full stack developer, I intend to go into cybersecurity as it was something I was interested in since young and only recently got the chance to learn further. With these skills, I hope that I will be able to contribute to the field of computer science, or within the industry.
